There has been a new electrosurgical generator introduced by Bovie - the OR|PRO 300
Bovie has designed its electrosurgical unit in conjunction with OR clinicians in order to provide a user-friendly and safe generator that will meet the performance requirements of the majority of operating room procedures. You will be able to choose from a variety of thirteen modes of energy-based electrosurgical delivery with this innovative Bovie system. As part of the special modalities, we offer the advanced Bovie Bipolar and Auto Bipolar options as well as the special Laparoscopic mode. These four modes allow surgeons to rapidly and efficiently apply electrosurgery techniques to their wide range of surgical applications as well as their diverse user preferences.
Highlights and Features:
- Bovie Bipolar (BBp) - Bovie Bipolar is a pulsating coagulation technology used for coagulation of tissues in a rapid and powerful manner. As a result, it is possible to customize the performance of the pulsing to meet the specific needs of the surgeon so that the best possible surgical results are achieved. The feature can be customized according to surgical preferences for critical procedures, and it is compatible with Bovie's Micro, Macro, and Standard Bipolar modes.
- The Auto Bipolar Intuitive Technology - Auto Bipolar offers a simple, easy, and fast way to coagulate tissue with the minimal amount of tissue damage. With this device, you will be able to automatically activate, coagulate, and deactivate for precise tissue coagulation without having to operate the footswitch. As for Bovie's Micro, Macro, and Standard Bipolar modes, this feature can be set to surgical preferences for critical procedures, and it is fully compatible with those modes.
- With the OR|PRO 300's Surgical Memory Technology, you can remember the last power and mode setting that you used. With the unit's user preset, you have the option to recall up to 10 presets and up to 6 bipolar output preferences.
- It is possible to regulate the power of the device during activation - the power of the device can be adjusted up or down by steps of changing intensity, which gives the surgeon more control over the surgical site.
- A key aspect of patient safety consists of the BovieNEMTM return electrode contact quality monitoring system, which is designed to minimize the possibility of patient burns at the return electrode site.
- Bovie FDFSTM - The tissue sensing technology measures tissue 5 million times a second and adapts to varying impedances at 5000 times per second in order to deliver energy accurately.
- Visual ammeters display the amount of current flow (mA) flowing through a patient in real-time.
From The User's Manual, Some Key Features
-
There are two modes of cutting available, Cut 1 and Cut II
The two different modes of cutting provide the surgeon with the ability to cut all types of tissue without compromising the quality of the cut.
In general, the power generated by Cut I is constant over a large range of impedances.
Cut II is a softer cut than its predecessor, which generates steady output power with a lower voltage over a narrow range of impedances. It is recommended for laparoscopic procedures -
There are four different levels of blending when it comes to this product
The procedure is a combination of cutting and hemostasis in a single operation. The OR|PRO 300 enables the surgeon to precisely adjust the level of hemostasis that he or she desires. A level setting of 1 can be described as the minimum blend with the maximum cutting effect. Using a level of 4 gives the best overall hemostasis (blend) with minimal cutting effect. In order to achieve this, an incremental adjustment of four levels is a simple method. With the Blend mode, you can significantly increase the rate of targeted tissue desiccation without increasing the power delivered by the generator. -
Coagulation can be done in three different ways: pin-point, spray, and gentle coagulation
With the Pinpoint system, bleeding can be controlled precisely in localized areas.
The spray is also able to provide greater control over bleeding in highly vascular tissues over a wide area of the body. There is no doubt that this method provides more intense coagulation than any of the other modes. A lower electrode carbonization is a good thing to have, for example, if Coagulation is to occur within a short period of time. -
In the menu bar of the program, you can find the macro-bipolar mode
It provides delicate bipolar coagulation effects in order to prevent the tip tissue adhesion and carbonization through the use of the macro bipolar mode -
In this case, the operation mode is micro-bipolar
By using the Micro Bipolar Mode, it is possible to obtain a precise Bipolar coagulation effect -
Among the features of the standard bipolar mode are the following:
There is a Bipolar Mode that is available as a standard that provides power to conventional Bipolar outputs. -
The Bovie bipolar mode is an important part of the game
A special type of pulsating coagulation mode uses this technique to deliver quick, precise, and powerful coagulation to achieve the best possible surgical fusion effects on a wide variety of tissue types -
In addition to having four bipolar modes, the device also has an auto bipolar option and a virtual ammeter LED display
The generator provides the surgeon with four options for bipolar operation (Macro, Micro, Standard, and Bovie Bipolar) for procedures requiring bipolar power. In addition, the generator offers a virtual ammeter to display the flow of RF current when bipolar applications are underway. By using the Auto Bipolar option it is possible to set up bipolar mode parameters as well as to select the characteristics of the Virtual Ammeter display. -
The presets
For surgeons' convenience, the surgeon can store up to 10 user-defined RF presets and six interface Set-Up Preferences presets for easy selection of frequently used settings. -
Sensing the return electrode and monitoring the quality of the contact
The OR|PRO 300 is equipped with a return electrode quality monitoring system (Bovie NEM) as a standard feature. Using the system, the type of return electrode can be detected, whether it be solid or split. Additionally, the system continuously monitors whether or not there is a good contact between the split return electrode and the patient. The purpose of this feature is to prevent patient burns at the location of the return electrode from being caused by excessive current. -
This system is called the Fast Digital Feedback System (FDFS)
In FDFS (Fast Digital Feedback System), voltage and current are measured 5,000 times a second through high speed digital technology, and the power is immediately adjusted to impedance changes during the electrosurgical procedure. Using digital technology, the unit detects and responds to changes in density of the tissues using the unit's digital technology. This feature allows you to reduce the need to manually adjust power settings according to the tissue's impedance, which is not possible with analog systems. -
Design that is user-friendly
Selection of features for the digital interface with membrane switch -
Two footswitch connections are located on the rear panel, and three accessory connections are located on the front panel
In order to use these connectors, you must have the most recent monopolar or bipolar instruments in your possession. -
Memory
The device will automatically switch to the mode and power settings that were selected last -
Isolating the RF output from the rest of the system
As a result, the potential for alternate site burns is minimized -
Performing a self-diagnosis
The diagnostics are continually monitored in order to ensure that the unit performs as it should
